Entrepreneurs who are women of color were the fastest-growing group of business owners in the country last year, employing 2.3 million people and generating $422.5 billion in revenue, according to the 2019 State of Women-Owned Business Report (.pdf) by American Express

To continue the conversation, College of Charleston School of Business Center for Entrepreneurship and About Her Business will host the second Women of Color Entrepreneurship Forum at 5:30 p.m. today on Zoom.

Panelists from the Charleston area, including professionals in academia and the entrepreneurial community, will discuss the growing number of women of color entrepreneurs in education, ecosystems, inclusion and policy.

In addition to the forum, there will be networking, panel discussions and a gender equality pitch competition from six College of Charleston student-teams who will compete for a $1,000 prize.

CofC alumnae Johnny Caldwell and Taneka Reaves — the female food and beverage advocates known around the world as the Cocktail Bandits — also will take part in the networking portion of the event.

The virtual event is free and open to the public, but registration is required.
