New Stationery & Craft Shop Opens Downtown Charleston August 12

Charleston, SC – The Paper Canopy, a new stationery and craft store, is launching its first brick and mortar location at 93C Spring St., with a grand opening on August 12, 2023, from 11-5PM. The Paper Canopy started in 2021 as an online brand and is expanding to 650 sq. feet of elegant stationery, fine writing pens, craft supplies — and will be holding unique craft classes.

The August 12 grand opening celebration will offer a first look at this specialty boutique in the quickly growing Cannonborough Elliotborough neighborhood. In addition to the carefully curated paper goods, classes and art events are scheduled for the fall with a focus on paper related crafts like bookbinding, crepe paper flowers and collage. The Paper Canopy hours are Tuesday through Saturday from 11-5PM.

“Connection is the heartbeat of my store and brand. Whether you’re sketching on vacation to connect with your surroundings, or journaling and connecting to your own thoughts and experiences, life is richer with intentionally slowing down to notice and enjoy the simple things,” Berry states about the new store.

Berry, a 2009 College of Charleston alumni, started The Paper Canopy because of her passion for the world of paper arts and bookbinding which she learned while studying abroad in Italy. “Surrounded by marbled paper and the world’s finest leather artists, a seed was planted.”

The store will offer products from around the globe that are built to last and to inspire others to live and create a colorful life. It will also highlight and sell art and gifts from local artisans.
