A manufacturer of heirloom-quality cast iron and carbon steel cookware has opened its new headquarters and showroom.

Smithey Ironware Co.’s new facility is located at the historic Navy Yard Industrial Campus, at 1061 Everglades Drive, North Charleston, in a restored 1930s officer’s quarters adjacent to Riverfront Park, according to a news release.

In addition to the new headquarters, Smithey also announced the expansion of its primary production facility as well as the opening of a separate warehousing and distribution facility, both also at the Navy Yard, the release stated

Smithey’s new showroom will provide a place for visitors and locals alike to browse and purchase Smithey’s entire assortment of U.S. made cast iron and carbon steel cookware, as well as an assortment of tools and accessories, the release stated.

“Our new headquarters and showroom are both a nod to our roots here at the Navy Yard and a visual representation of our continued growth trajectory as a leading American cookware company,” said Will Copenhaver, vice president of marketing and sales, in the release. “We invite the public to stop by our showroom to see our cookware in person, to ask questions, to hear a few of our stories, and to generally get a glimpse of the passion that goes into every Smithey that leaves our doors,” he continued.

Smithey Ironware is a backyard story, the release state. Founder Isaac Morton hatched the idea for Smithey while tinkering around his woodshed admiring the smooth surfaces and timeless logo design of vintage ironware.

Here, he developed an expertise in restoring old cookware pieces, which he would then gift to friends and family. And from that idea Smithey Ironware was born, the release stated.
