If you know a teenager with a love of science, listen up.
Medical University of South Carolina is offering internship opportunities for 10th and 11th graders in underrepresented groups, the hospital said in a news release. The students must attend a Charleston County school.
Of the applicants, six selected teen ambassadors will work side-by-side with MUSC researchers and doctors to further their interests in science, technology, engineering and math skills. They will engage in topics such as clinical research, developmental neuroscience and addiction science.
Students will also attend weekly MUSC meetings in downtown Charleston, where they will learn resume building and professional development.
The Teen Science Ambassador Program, which runs from February through April, is offered through the MUSC Youth Collaborative to teens at least 16 years of age who are part of groups underrepresented in STEM careers, the release said.
The spring program is funded in part by a $1.35 million grant from the Science Education Partnership Award.
