Lowcountry Kettle, a producer of Lowcountry-inspired flavors of kettle chips, plans to expand operations in Charleston County and create 24 jobs.

The expansion of the facility at 4447 Dorchester Road in North Charleston is expected to allow the company to grow into other parts of the state and across the Southeast, according to a news release. Lowcountry Kettle also plans to use the growth to add two new flavors, Bulls Bay Sea Salt and Carolina Reaper, to its product line.

Commerce Secretary Bobby Hitt lauded the announcement, saying, “From computer chips to potato chips, South Carolina is a destination that’s appealing to companies of all types to find success.”

Founded in 2016, Lowcountry Kettle — the self-proclaimed “official chip of South Carolina” — uses Bulls Bay salts to create a variety of kettle cooked potato chip flavors, including Bloody Mary, Mustard BBQ Sauce, Spicy Pimento Cheese and State Fair Fried Pickle. The chips can be found at grocery stores, bars and specialty shops across the Lowcountry and South Carolina, as well as in North Carolina, Tennessee, Georgia, New Jersey and Massachusetts.

Charleston County Economic Development Executive Director Steve Dykes said, “Our Business Concierge team has been working with Lowcountry Kettle since 2018 to help position them for success in their new location.”

The expansion is expected to be completed in the summer of 2020. Anyone interested in applying for the new jobs at Lowcountry Kettle should contact the company.
