Charleston area residents will have more ways to get to the Northeast this spring. Spirit Airlines will offer new daily flights from Charleston International (CHS) to Boston (BOS) and New York (LGA).

Service on both routes begins April 10, according to a news release from CHS.

“There couldn’t be a better way to kick off the spring travel season than by welcoming Spirit’s addition of Boston and New York to its nonstop destination lineup here at CHS,” Elliott Summey, Charleston International Airport executive director, said in the release. “Spirit continues to deliver on its promise to meet our community’s needs with affordable, direct service to some of the most in-demand destinations.”

Spirit Airlines began service at Charleston International Airport in April 2023 and on the first day of service announced new flights from the Lowcountry to Las Vegas, which began in September.

“Spirit’s announcement illustrates the strength of our partnership and the desirability of the Charleston region,” Helen Hill, CEO of Explore Charleston and chair of the Aviation Authority, said in the release. “The northeast is consistently a top region of origin for Lowcountry visitors. Additional nonstop, daily flights between Charleston and both LaGuardia and Boston will increase our travel industry’s competitiveness and economic impact while simultaneously helping Charleston area locals more affordably and easily connect with friends and family in these markets.”

Spirit Airlines also offers daily flights to Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and Newark, N.J., and service to Las Vegas three times weekly.

“Charleston’s historic sites, booming food scene, and beautiful beaches have made it one of the most popular U.S. leisure destinations, and Spirit’s new, daily nonstop flights are a convenient and affordable way for our guests in Boston and New York to enjoy all the city has to offer this spring,” said John Kirby, vice president of network planning at Spirit Airlines. “We’re looking forward to celebrating our first anniversary in Charleston this April by expanding our schedule to five nonstop flights and giving our CHS Guests More Go to two major metro areas in the northeast. Thank you to our partners at Charleston International Airport and Explore Charleston for supporting our expansion.”
