Lifestyle brand Salt Life will open its ninth retail location and first Lowcountry store next week on King Street in Charleston. The company is known for its swimwear, hats and performance clothing.

The store will officially open Monday, and a grand opening event will be from 5 to 7 p.m. March 5 at the 316 King St., Suite A, location.

Salt Life President Jeff Stillwell said South Carolina was one of the brand’s leading sales states in 2019. He said the company recently acquired the Greenville-based Coast apparel brand and is experiencing growth with that unit.

“Salt Life is growing, and we could not be more thrilled to say that we are the proud tenants of 316-A King St. in Charleston,” Stillwell said. “Charleston’s King Street is a retail and cultural hub of this historic city, and we feel that our popularity with the district residents is an obvious addition to our growing brick-and-mortar portfolio.”

The company plans to make the Salt Life brand more accessible to consumers through the opening of more brick-and-mortar retail locations over the next several years, the company said in a news release.

Merchandise for the brand is also sold in shops and stores across the Lowcountry including Belk, Dick’s Sporting Goods, Palmetto Moon and The Boot Jack in Charleston. Other Salt Life retail stores are located in Florida, Georgia and California.
