src=Tri-County-based nonprofit We Are Family is excited to host their Charleston Queer Proms, giving adults and youth alike an opportunity to express themselves in a safe, inclusive environment.

Free to all local middle, high and homeschoolers, WAF’s Queer Youth Prom is scheduled for 6-10 p.m. on April 30 at Charleston Union Station. Along with an open dance floor, the event will feature a flower crown station, photobooth, game room and quiet room for relaxing. Details are still being released for the Queer Adult Prom, scheduled for June 4. Both offer LGBTQI+ members and allies the chance to experience the fun of prom without any cis-heteronormative expectations.

Tickets must be reserved on Eventbrite, and sponsorship opportunities are available for either event.

Charleston Friends of the Library is hosting their first Book Sale of 2022, March 4-5 at the Otranto Road Library in North Charleston, with an exclusive member event set to kick things off on March 3.

Presented by Crews Subaru of Charleston, the Book Sale is an opportunity to shop bargain book prices, starting at $1 for paperbacks and $4 for hardbacks, while supporting tri-county libraries.

Volunteer opportunities are available for the three-day sale and masks are encouraged.

The Lowcountry Food Bank received a $25,000 donation from Bank of America to address food insecurity in Charleston as part of the bank’s approach to encouraging employees to get their COVID-19 vaccine booster shot.

For each Bank of America employee that got a vaccine booster and notified the company before Jan. 31, the company pledged $100 to a local hunger-relief organization, committing over $10 million to local hunger-relief organizations.

With help from the bank’s donation, the food bank can help create 150,000 meals for individuals and families throughout the Lowcountry.
