Helping Out highlights some of the many charitable events and activities going on in the Charleston area. ATTENTION: Submissions should now be made using our online form.

S.C. Federal Credit Union recently presented a check of $14,602.35 to Water Mission. Over the past seven years, the credit union has donated $88,900 to Water Mission.

Gay Bingo, a summertime fundraising event for Palmetto Community Care, is scheduled for 6 to 10 p.m. Aug. 15 at the Charleston Convention Center in North Charleston. This year’s theme is the Mad Hatter’s Ball and costumes are encouraged. Patti O’Furniture will host the event and bingo winners will receive prize packages.

General admission tickets are $30 in advance through June 30, $40 during the month of July and $50 starting Aug. 1. Tickets include bingo and entertainment. Food will be available for purchase along with a cash bar.

VIP tickets include a pre-event VIP reception at 5 p.m. with complimentary champagne plus premium seating and a free drink ticket, bingo and entertainment. VIP tickets are $50 in advance through June 30, $60 during the month of July and $75 starting Aug. 1.
