Helping Out highlights some of the many charitable events and activities going on in the Charleston area. ATTENTION: Submissions should now be made using our online form.

 src=Housing for All – Mount Pleasant has received a $2,500 donation from United Community Bank. The donation makes United Community Bank a “Roof Level” sponsor, and the funds will be used to help make attainable housing a reality for first responders, teachers, senior citizens and all of those affected by the ongoing regional housing crisis.


Hendrick Automotive Group and the Lowcountry Food Bank conducted a spring meal packaging event on Monday at the Lowcountry Food Bank’s Paul Hulsey Community Food and Nutrition Center. Volunteers from Charleston and North Charleston Hendrick Automotive Group Dealerships and Military Magnet Academy packed 1,000 Easter meals that will be distributed to families who struggle with hunger in the Lowcountry.


This year’s annual Needtobreathe Classic raised more than $300,000 for OneWorld Health, a nonprofit that aims to provide quality, affordable health care to people in need. The event surpassed the $200,000 raised last year.
