A new premier event space will officially open Aug. 1 on the top floor of The Morrison Yard mixed-use building, with 180-degree water views of the Charleston Harbor, Ravenel Bridge and ocean beyond.

The Indigo Road Hospitality Group is opening the space at 850 Morrison Drive, building upon its success of popular event venue The Cedar Room on East Bay Street.

The View at Morrison Yard is a state-of-the-art contemporary private event space with sweeping water views seen from the floor-to-ceiling windows and expansive outdoor deck.

“From the very inception of the project, the vision has been to create the city’s most unique event venue,” said Steve Palmer, managing partner and founder of The Indigo Road Hospitality Group.

The space features a polished concrete floor, weathered wood, metal and wood chandeliers and pendants of matte black. There’s ample parking in an adjacent covered parking deck.

The View at Morrison Yard can hold up to 200 guests reception-style and up to 160 guests for a seated dinner. Catering options and menu planning will come from The  Indigo Road Hospitality Group’s dining concepts that include O-Ku and Indaco, with Mercantile & Mash as the preferred caterer.

The company says The View at Morrison Yard will expand upon its successful concept at The Cedar Room and the space is ideal for corporate events, weddings, celebrations and more.

“We’ve booked several events (already) for this year, and are seeing a lot of 2024 leads and bookings coming in. We’ve primarily booked weddings, corporate happy hours and fundraisers,” Palmer said.

Staffing for The View at Morrison Yard will be a mix of existing employees and new hires, Palmer said, adding that there will be an effort to offer special opportunities for neighboring businesses.

“We always love to welcome our neighbors and work closely with them to create what works best for their needs and budgets,” Palmer said. “We are excited to continue off our success at The Cedar Room and build an iconic space for amazing events.”
