The Greater Charleston Restaurant Association has scheduled the Lowcountry Oyster Festival for 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Jan. 27 at Boone Hall Plantation.

The festival will include more than 80,000 pounds of oysters, plus food from local restaurants and food trucks. There will be oyster shucking and eating contests, live music, local wine and beer, and the Pluff-a-Palooza children’s area.

General admission tickets are $17.50 in advance online and $25 the day of the event. Children 10 and younger are free with a paying adult. VIP tickets, which include admission to the VIP tent for unlimited oysters, food and beverages, are $100 through Dec. 31 and $125 starting Jan. 1. There is no charge for parking.


Edmund’s Oast Restaurant and Edmund’s Oast Exchange will showcase a variety of sour Gose beer at 4 p.m. today. The event will include Fal Allen of Anderson Valley Brewing Co. signing copies of his recently released book on goses, with beer samples, in Edmund’s Oast Exchange.


The Post and Courier Farmers Market is set to open to the public from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday at 134 Columbus St. in downtown Charleston. The market will run every Sunday, March through December and will have over 40 vendors, including local farmers, craft vendors, food trucks and live music.

Free parking will be available.
