On the Menu provides the latest news from the Charleston area’s culinary community, including new restaurants, new menu items and upcoming events, as well as details about local chefs. ATTENTION: Submissions should now be made using our online form.
Tickets are on sale for the Little Chef/Big Chef event from 7-10 p.m. on June 25 at Halls Signature Events. Proceeds from the Little Chef/Big Chef will go toward Louie’s Kids, which advocates a healthy eating for children and works to prevent childhood obesity.
The event includes a five-course meal by five Charleston chefs with assistance from “little chefs.” Matt Greene of Halls Signature Events will serve as the hosting chef for the event along with Russ Moore of Slightly North of Broad, Jill Mathias of Chez Nous, Jason Stanhope of FIG and DaVee Harned of Millers All Day.
The Little Chef/Big Chef teams will present their dishes to attendees. Meals will be paired with wine and beer, and the food is being sponsored by US Foods.
Tickets are $240 per person, which includes tax and gratuity. Tickets can be purchased by calling 843-724-3808, and more information is available online. Attendance for the Little Chef/Big Chef event is capped at 80 attendees.
Pour Taproom Charleston has named Dean Szablewski as chef for the rooftop bar and announced a beer-focused menu. The bar and restaurant at 560 King St. above the Hyatt Place hotel has 70 rotating taps of craft beer, wine and cocktails.
Szablewski, a former Marine, has worked in Boston, New York City and Jackson, Miss.
