Industry event set for federal contracting opportunities

Architecture, engineering and construction firms can learn about federal government contracting opportunities at a two-day event in Charleston.

The Society of American Military Engineers Charleston post is holding its 2022 Industry Day on April 13-14. Events include a golf tournament and a beginner golf class at Charleston Municipal Golf Course on April 13, followed by an evening dinner cruise and networking reception around Charleston Harbor on the Spirit of the Lowcountry.

On April 14, the event moves to the Charleston Marriott on Lockwood Drive for speakers and booth exhibits from 7:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m.

Confirmed speakers include representatives from Joint Base Charleston, the Army Corps of Engineers offices in Charleston, Savannah, Jacksonville and Wilmington, as well as other government officials.

Kathy Ferguson, senior adviser for The Roosevelt Group and former principal deputy assistant secretary and acting deputy assistant secretary of the Air Force for Installations, Environment, and Energy, will deliver the keynote address.

Tickets for the April 14 events are $250 for members of the private sector; the price increases to $300 on April 1. Federal, state and local government employees can register for $25. Registration includes access to the exhibit hall, breakfast and luncheon at the Charleston Marriott.

Tickets for the April 13 networking reception are $125 ($150 on April 1) for private sector, $25 for government employees. Golf tournament registration is $100 per player or $350 for a foursome. The beginner golf class is $25.
