Avelo Airlines has added a second non-stop service to its list of destinations out of Charleston.
The airline is expanding service at Charleston International Airport (CHS) with exclusive nonstop flights to Delaware’s Wilmington Airport (ILG), according to an Avelo news releaes.
Avelo will be the only airline flying between The Holy City and The First State, the release stated. Service from CHS to ILG begins June 23.
“Charleston — say hello to Avelo, again,” said Andrew Levy, Avelo Airlines chairman and CEO. “This new route to the Wilmington / Philadelphia area exemplifies our ongoing commitment to bringing Avelo’s low fares, industry-leading reliability and caring service to Charleston travelers. Getting to the four-state Delaware Valley region is now easier than ever.”

Avelo’s service from CHS to Wilmington will operate twice-weekly on Mondays and Fridays utilizing Boeing 189-seat Next-Generation 737-800 aircraft, according to the release.
“Avelo’s decision to schedule service to Wilmington not only illustrates the Lowcountry of Charleston’s appeal to residents of the Delaware Valley but also provides our travelers more options when planning their trips,” said Elliott Summey, Executive Director and CEO at Charleston International Airport. “We look forward to Avelo continuing to increase their nonstop destinations in the Charleston region.”
Wilmington Airport is located a short drive south of Philadelphia, according to the release
Avelo will now serve two nonstop destinations from CHS. Wilmington will join Connecticut’s most convenient airport — Tweed-New Haven Airport (HVN).
