Japanese airline group ANA Holdings Inc. plans to acquire up to 20 more Boeing 787s, bringing its total 787 orders to over 100 airplanes.

The airline plans to acquire 11 787-10 airplanes and one dash-9 from Boeing, with an option to acquire five more 787-9s. ANA also plans to acquire three dash-9s from Atlantis Aviation Corp.

ANA was the global launch customer of the 787 when it placed its initial order in 2004. The airline currently operates 71 787s and has 12 more to be delivered from a previous agreement.

Production of the 787-8 and 787-9 is split between Boeing’s Everett, Wash., and North Charleston facilities. The 787-10 is produced entirely in North Charleston.

The 787-9 can fit up to 296 passengers and has a range of 7,530 nautical miles. The dash-10 can fit up to 336 passengers and has a range of 6,345 nautical miles.

Boeing has 540 unfilled 787 orders, according to its orders and deliveries website. Last month, the company announced plans to cut the production rate of 787s to 10 per month in early 2021 because of a lack of orders from China.
