A Johns Island staple for fresh produce, seafood and honey has opened in a new location at Kiawah River, a waterfront community and the region’s only “agrihood,” according to a news release.

Rosebank Farms, owned by Charleston natives Sidi Limehouse and Louise Bennett, is open at the community’s entrance at 3883 Betsy Kerrison Parkway. The partnership with Kiawah River relocates the farmstand to the land where Limehouse grew up, the news release said. The business provides the greater community with local food options while furthering Kiawah River’s commitment to sustainability.

On April 13, the community held a grand opening event featuring live music, refreshments and tastings.

“With the grand opening of Rosebank Farms, we celebrate a blend of tradition and innovation, nurturing not just crops, but community connections,” Chase Williston, director of development at Kiawah River, said in the release. “Rosebank Farms and Sidi Limehouse have been a beloved part of the Kiawah River family since our community’s inception, and we are proud to provide a permanent space for their legacy to continue to flourish.”

Limehouse has farmed 30 acres at Kiawah River over the past five years, growing tomatoes, sweet potatoes, watermelons and flowers, among many other crops for Rosebank Farms. Operating for over 30 years, Rosebank Farms’ 75-acre farm is known throughout the region, producing more than 50 crops.

Formerly known as Mullet Hall, Kiawah River strives to embody sea island traditions and history and has preserved and maintained 100 acres of working farmland. Kiawah River Farm prioritizes supporting the local agricultural community, including neighboring family farmers, The Goatery at Kiawah River; Three Gates Cattle, a pasture-raised cattle company; Storey Farms’ free-range chicken coop; and actively maintained beehives.

Kiawah River is being developed by Kiawah River Investment LLC, an affiliate of The Beach Co., a residential development company and commercial real estate brokerage.
