Pet owners can have their pets photographed with Santa from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday at Butcher & the Boar, at 730 Coleman Blvd. in Mount Pleasant.

Owners will get to take home the photo, and a photo cover, for free.

Dog treats will be available for purchase, and all proceeds will benefit Charleston Animal Society. The treats are made from scratch by Butcher & the Boar’s pastry chef, Alina Bothen.


Big Billy’s Burger Joint is opening a second location, Little Big Billy’s Burger Joint, within the Bees Ferry Crossing Shopping Center in West Ashley.

The grand opening will take place at 4 p.m. Thursday in Suite 6 at 2875 Ashley River Road.

Like its North Charleston location, owned and operated by Greg and Ellen Leonard, the restaurant will include an array of wild meats, including wild boar, gator, bison, venison and elk. The new location will be a scaled-back version, with less of a bar area.


 src=This holiday season, 5Church Charleston, at 32B N. Market St. in downtown Charleston, is offering several special menus and events.

From noon to 9 p.m. Christmas Eve, 5Church will serve a three-course menu for $52 per person and $20 for children 12 and younger. Guests can choose from dishes such as carrot ginger risotto, braised beef short rib and sweet potato ravioli.

The restaurant will host a Christmas Day buffet from 3 to 9 p.m., for $50 per person and $20 for children 12 and younger. Buffet items include shrimp cocktail, chicken marsala and buttered green beans.

On New Year’s Eve, guests can attend a three-course dinner starting at 5 p.m., which includes half a bottle of champagne for a party of two or a full bottle for a party of four. Prices vary from $90 to $120, depending on reservation time.

New Year’s Eve diners can also come to an open bar and buffet from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m. The party will include a live DJ, dancing, balloon drop, champagne toast and party favors.
