Metalworx, a metal fabrication company in Summerville, has been acquired by a custom manufacturer based out of New York.

The contract manufacturer located at 340 Deming Way specializes in precision machining, engineered and manufactured components, assemblies and products.

The company serves clients in the medical, forestry, defense, aerospace, power generation, transportation, communications, steel, wind energy, packaging and other industrial and technology based industries.

The company brings certifications, automation and a customer base to Jrlon Inc., Jrlon co-owner and COO Brandon Redmond said. Metalworx will add AS9100 certification, ITAR registration and ISO-13485 compliance to Jrlon’s portfolio.

“We see this as an incredible opportunity to cross sell and utilize each other’s capabilities. We are all about adding as much value to our customers as possible,” Redmond said. “It’s simple, Metalworx makes us a more valuable manufacturing partner to our customers.”

Jrlon Inc. is a privately held custom manufacturer of specialty metal and high performance plastic and rubber products. The company produces molding, machining and industrial coating of Fluoropolymers, and offers injection molding, compression molding, CNC machining, Swiss-type CNC machining, industrial coating, complete gear manufacturing, metal fabrication and assembly services.

Redmond said the two companies share a lot of common and organizational principles that go well together.

“Everything from the culture and people-over-profits mentality, to the diversity of products and services makes it a perfect fit,” he said.

Michael L. Sawyer, Metalworx’s outgoing CEO and president, who is also the CEO of Real Performance Machinery LLC, said that Metalworx is in “great hands” with Jrlon.

“I am extremely confident the company cultures will allow for a seamless transition of ownership for all the employees, and our customers will appreciate the added capabilities that Jrlon will bring to their organizations,” he said. “Brandon and I had good rapport from our first meeting, and I quickly realized Jrlon would be a great fit for the Metalworx family.”

Following the acquisition, Metalworx’s staff of 46 will continue operating out of the company’s two Summerville locations.
