The Berkeley-Charleston-Dorchester Council of Governments is seeking public input to assist in updating its long-range transportation plan for the region’s rural areas.

The multimodal plan is meant to prioritize spending of federal funds on transportation projects in the Lowcountry over the next 25 years to improve highways, roads, bridges, transit facilities, and bicycle and pedestrian routes, among other projects.

The final, updated long-range transportation plan is expected to be complete in January. The current version of the plan can be found on the COG website (.pdf).

The COG will hold public input meetings in each of the three counties next week; details for an additional meeting in Charleston County’s western rural areas have not been finalized.

The public can also provide input via an online survey.
