Attendees of the 2019 U.S. Women’s Open Championship next month in Charleston can park for free at the Citadel Mall in West Ashley.

The tournament, which is expected to attract around 100,000 fans, will run from May 30 through June 2 at the Country Club of Charleston, located at 1 Country Club Drive on James Island. Practice rounds will be May 27-29 and championship rounds will be May 30 through June 2.

The U.S. Golf Association will continuously run shuttles between the Citadel Mall, located at 2070 Sam Rittenberg Blvd., and the country club. It is about a 20-minute drive between the sites.

Shuttles will begin running about 45 minutes before the first tee time each day and stop running around one hour after play concludes, USGA said.

Handicap spaces will be available. Fans requiring lift-equipped shuttle transportation should contact the UGSA Admissions Office at 900-698-0661 for more information.

The decision to use the Citadel Mall parking lots occurred after Charleston City Council rejected USGA’s proposal to allow 2,700 cars to park on the Municipal Golf Course.

The USGA also encourages attendees to use Uber, Lyft and other taxi services; those drop-offs and pickups will be at McCleod Plantation Historic Site, located at 325 Country Club Drive, which sits about a mile from the golf course. The USGA will shuttle fans to and from the golf course.
