T-Mobile invests $10.2 million in North Charleston expansion

T-Mobile has expanded its North Charleston operations with a $10.2 million investment in its Customer Experience Center on Rivers Avenue. The expansion is expected to create 540 jobs, bringing its full-time employee count in the area to 1,540.

“T-Mobile is customer obsessed, and we are so excited that the Charleston community will continue to play a huge role in helping us show even more customers our Un-carrier love,” Executive Vice President of Customer Care Callie Field said. “We are so excited for what’s to come as we expand our operations and team in Charleston, and we can’t wait to tap into the tremendous talent this area has to offer.”

T-Mobile USA Inc. is headquartered in Bellevue, Wash., and has a Customer Care Center at 8571 Rivers Ave. The 44,350 expansion that was completed in spring 2020 will accommodates the company’s growing customer care team.

S.C. Gov. Henry McMaster praised the company for its Palmetto State expansion.

“South Carolina continues to be a place where companies can establish business and prosper, and today’s announcement certainly speaks to that reputation,” he said.

T-Mobile delivers a 5G network nationwide, but its local investment also will have a significant impact on the state and its economy, Secretary of Commerce Bobby Hitt said.

“When globally recognized brands like T-Mobile are able to operate in South Carolina and find success, it shows that the Palmetto State is open for business,” he said. “T-Mobile’s commitment to South Carolina with this latest investment will have an impact in Charleston County and the entire state for years to come.”
