Daniel Island-based Blackbaud has acquired YourCause, a Plano, Texas, software company, for $157 million.

The deal closed Wednesday. YourCause is a software as a service provider focused on increasing corporate giving and volunteering for nonprofits and causes. Its portfolio includes Fortune 500 companies and small businesses.

Eight million people are currently on the YourCause platform, which processes more than $245,000 in donations every business hour and has tracked more than 30 million volunteer hours for its customers, according to the company.

In 2017, YourCause acquired Good Done Great, a North Charleston technology firm that helped employees give to nonprofits.

Blackbaud officials said YourCause’s focus on employee engagement, corporate giving and social issues aligned with its mission.

They added that YourCause will give Blackbaud customers a new source of donors, volunteers and advocates, while YourCause will benefit from Blackbaud’s customer base and research and development. Blackbaud has more than 40,000 customers in 50 countries.

The acquisition “will enable companies around the world to create a culture that engages and inspires employees and customers, while driving business success and powering measurable outcomes,” Kevin McDearis, Blackbaud’s chief products officer, said in a news release.

YourCause’s team of 155 employees will join Blackbaud, the release said.

“The inspiration for YourCause began in 2007 with the story of a boy in war-torn Uganda who had suffered unimaginable tragedy, my desire to help, and my realization that the tools to connect individuals like myself to the causes and organizations needing support across the globe were lacking,” YourCause CEO Matthew Combs said. “Joining Blackbaud, the leader in the social good software space, will enable us to connect enterprises, individuals and nonprofits to more efficiently support social causes of every size, anywhere in the world.”
