Lowcountry tech workers earned an average of $91,105 this year, according to companies participating in an annual wage and jobs survey by the Charleston Digital Corridor.

This is up 6.2% from the average tech salary of $85,771 in 2017, survey results showed.

The 2018 salary for tech sector workers is more than double the state average salary of $42,240, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.

Among survey respondents, 92% said they added jobs this year and expect to continue hiring next year.

“Creating high-wage jobs is directly dependent on our ability to attract qualified professionals to Charleston’s tech companies,” Charleston Digital Corridor Director Ernest Andrade said in a news release. “Fortunately, with our universities graduating more talent in computer science and the steady in-migration of tech professionals, we are holding our own against an extremely tight national labor market.”
