The Green Heart Project recently completed a $2.4 million fundraising campaign to build and support the Urban Farm at the William Enston Home. Funds will provide healthy food, outdoor education opportunities, youth development and community building.

SeamonWhiteside oversaw the farm’s design since its first conceptualization in 2017 and has been one of the project’s leading donors.

Trident United Way recently announced the D. Michael Wilson and Pam Wilson Trident United Way 211 $100K Challenge, funded by a gift from the D. Michael Wilson and Pam Wilson Foundation.

The goal is to raise $100,000 for Trident United Way’s 211 Helpline, which helps people and families access local resources in the tri-county area, by matching all contributions to Trident United Way, dollar for dollar, up to $50,000 through tomorrow. The challenge is part of Trident United Way’s annual Giving Tuesday event.

The Lowcountry Food Bank recently announced a partnership between SkyMarket and Chef B.J. Dennis to prepare and deliver authentic Gullah Geechee meals. A percentage of proceeds from the meals were donated by SkyMarket to the Lowcountry Food Bank. Meals were prepared in Lowcountry Food Bank's Zucker Family Production Kitchen in North Charleston.

Charleston Friends of the Library and Crews Subaru of Charleston are teaming up to present That Holiday Book Sale from 9 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., Dec. 10 and 11 at the Wando Mount Pleasant Library. An exclusive member event will also take place from 4 – 6 p.m. Dec. 9.

Hundreds of gently used books will be on sale, and safely protocols including masked volunteers, sanitized shopping baskets, one-direction lanes and social distancing will be in place. Attendees will be encouraged to wear a mask.
