RussoThe Lowcountry Food Bank has named Jody Russo as the organization’s new COO.

Russo will be responsible all food procurement, warehousing and distribution goals for the Charleston-based nonprofit.

Russo comes to Charleston with more than 25 years of experience, previously serving as COO of logistics and warehousing at Creating Living Tile Inc. and CEO and president of Wood River Foods Inc. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in computer science and business administration from the University of Rhode Island.

“Jody will take the Lowcountry Food Bank to the next level in its ability to achieve our mission and fight hunger in the Lowcountry,” Food Bank President and CEO Nick Osborne said in a news release. “Through even deeper teambuilding and utilization of the organization’s capacity to deliver outstanding services to those we serve, Jody will bring us even greater effectiveness in our commitment to our mission.”

The Lowcountry Food Bank has served the 10 coastal counties of Beaufort, Berkeley, Charleston, Colleton, Dorchester, Georgetown, Hampton, Horry, Jasper and Williamsburg counties since 1983. More than 39 million pounds of food and essential products were distributed to people in need in 2020.
