The Charleston Parks Conservancy is launching Cleanup in the Parks, a volunteer litter cleanup program.

Beginning April, the conservancy will give away 100 cleanup kits with bags, gloves, safety vests and trash pickers. Volunteers can keep the kits and use them to remove trash from any local park or public green space.

The conservancy is also partnering with like-minded organizations to host community cleanups along the West Ashley Greenway and Bikeway. The first one will be 5:30-7:30 p.m. on Earth Day, April 22. Charleston Waterkeeper will also host a cleanup along the West Ashley Bikeway from 9-11 a.m. An additional cleanup is scheduled for May 22.

Postpartum Support Charleston will host its 18th annual Moms’ Run virtually from May 3-9. The event coincides with National Maternal Mental Health Week.

Participants are encouraged to map out a 3.1-mile route to run, walk, bike or push a stroller. Registration is $25 through March 31. Beginning April 1, cost will increase to $30 per person. Registration includes a race T-shirt and bib.

A drive-thru packet pickup will be available from 1-4 p.m. May 2 at Philip Simmons High School. Those who are unable to attend the drive-thru can have their shirt shipped for an additional fee. Participants also can add a youth shirt size for children who want to participate.
