Thrivent has award $50,829 to Habitat for Humanity of Berkeley County as part of the two organizations’ national partnership to help families achieve strength, stability and self-reliance through affordable housing.
The groups will work on home construction for a family in Hanahan, alongside multiple local churches that have also partnered with the organizations.
Trident United Way has given $25,000 in grants to seven groups to be used for special events to help strengthen families, encourage mentoring and promote health and well-being across the tri-county area.
This is the second round of a $50,000 grant cycle intended to provide immediate benefits for special, one-time events focused on education, financial stability, health, basic needs and volunteerism.
The 2020 Community Engagement grant recipients include Kids On Point, Be a Mentor Inc., Lowcountry Youth Services, Carolina Youth Development Center, Communities in Schools of the Charleston Area, the College of Charleston Foundation and the Roper St. Francis Foundation.
