The foundation’s mission is to empower children and families to develop healthy relationships with food and cooking.

The Charleston nonprofit was awarded $5,000, an article in the April issue of the Rachael Ray magazine, a trip to New York City to tour the magazine’s office and a brief appearance on the Rachael Ray Show. Amor Healing Kitchen’s appearance on the show is scheduled for noon Friday.


The Gibbes Museum of Art was selected as a recipient of two grants totaling $50,000 from the Art Bridges Foundation. Through the support of the foundation, the Gibbes was selected as the only venue in the South to host Black Refractions: Highlights from The Studio Museum in Harlem, a traveling exhibition that will be on display in Charleston from May 24 through Aug. 18. The funds will also be used to support community outreach and programming around the exhibition.


 src=Nonprofit organization Going Places has partnered with On Purpose Adventures to host the first Adult Field Day from 10 a.m. to noon April 27 at Palmetto Islands County Park in Mount Pleasant. Teams will compete in a variety of field day-style events.

Team registration is $400 per team of six to 10 people. All proceeds from the event will benefit Going Places, which will use the funds to purchase bikes for all 425 disadvantaged kids who attend Sanders-Clyde Elementary School.
