Redux Contemporary Art Center’s annual Silent & Live Auction Benefit Party is scheduled for 8 to 11 p.m. Nov. 17 at Redux, at 1056 King St. This is Redux’s primary fundraising event of the year.
Tickets are $80 for members and $100 for nonmembers.
The Lowcountry Autism Foundation is set to host Oysters for Autism 2018 from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Bowens Island Restaurant. The oyster roast fundraiser includes live music, drinks and a silent auction.
Tickets are $25 for adults, $15 for children younger than 12 and $30 at the door. All proceeds will benefit the nonprofit’s programs.
Carolina One Real Estate Services recognized five local nonprofits on Oct. 12 at the company’s second awards distribution ceremony of the year. The Core Charitable Contributions Committee, comprising Carolina One sales associates, presented checks of $1,500 each to Blissful Dreams Rescue Ranch, Camp Rise Above, Down Syndrome Association of the Lowcountry, Lowcountry Food Bank and the Florence Crittenton Home.
East Cooper Medical Center is scheduled to host the following events:
- A Veterans Breakfast is set for 7 to 8:30 a.m. Friday in the cafeteria at East Cooper. The hospital is hosting a special breakfast to honor and thank the more than 40 veterans who work at the medical center.
- The hospital is holding a food drive from Friday through Nov. 16. Donations will benefit East Cooper Community Outreach’s new Wellness Pantry.
- Free osteoporosis screening on Nov. 27 for women over age 35.
- Dr. Del Schutte, medical director of East Cooper’s Comprehensive Joint Program, is presenting a free seminar about minimally invasive options for those experiencing knee or hip pain at 6 p.m. Nov. 27.
- A heart health screening is scheduled for 8 to 11 a.m. Nov. 28. The event includes a check of blood sugar, cholesterol, blood pressure and body mass index, as well as providing nutrition tips. Participants must fasting after midnight on the day of the screening.
The Charleston Basket Brigade, a nonprofit that provides Thanksgiving meals to local families in need, is assembling and delivering the meals starting at 7 a.m. Nov. 20 at the Charleston Area Convention Center. The organization expects to provides meals for about 3,500 families.
Community members can volunteer to assist with assembly and delivery. The nonprofit is also asking for monetary donations.
Florence Crittenton Programs of SC has scheduled its annual Wine Women & Shoes event from 6 to 9:30 p.m. Feb. 21 at Hotel Bennett on Marion Square. The event will include wine, shopping, a fashion show, and live and silent auctions.
General admission tickets are $125 and VIP tickets are $175. All proceeds benefit Florence Crittenton, which provides comprehensive services to at-risk pregnant and parenting young women and their children.
Charleston-based Environmental Express, a manufacturer and distributor of environmental laboratory equipment, has started a One Carolina campaign to help with Hurricane Florence aid.
The company has discounted its products for North and South Carolina customers to help them repair, rebuild and restock and to offset the costs of increased water testing.
Hub International is matching employee donations up to $50,000 toward disaster relief for hurricanes Florence and Michael.
The company is matching employee donations, up to $25,000, to the American Red Cross to aid people affected by Hurricane Florence.
And it is matching employee donations, up to $25,000, to the Disaster Relief by Care2 Fund at USLI to aid people affected by Hurricane Michael.
The Undergarment Society, a nonprofit collecting new bras and underwear for girls and women escaping domestic violence, homelessness, trafficking, poverty and other unsafe conditions, is raising funds to launch a mobile donation center. The center, known as the Us Bus, will reach more rural and underserved communities in South Carolina as well as allow for better control over inventory and distribution.
The nonprofit received a $10,000 grant from the Joanna Foundation during the summer. It is now using 100 Bus Boxes to raise another $10,000 for the bus through Dec. 31. Businesses and individuals can take one of the boxes to collect donations for the bus.
Dita Meholli-Brown and Kate Marty Caperton will chair the annual American Heart Association’s Go Red For Women luncheon on May 23 at Hotel Bennett.
