Helping Out highlights some of the many charitable events and activities going on in the Charleston area. Submissions can be made online.

The Charleston Parks Conservancy and the city of Charleston are hosting a series of interactive design workshops for improvements to the West Ashley Greenway and Bikeway from June 4 through June 7 in West Ashley. The Conservancy and the city are creating a detailed master plan and design for a combined 10.5-mile stretch of the Greenway and Bikeway. The following workshops are open to the public:

• Kickoff & Community Design Forum is scheduled for 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. June 4 at The Schoolhouse, large community auditorium at 720 Magnolia Road in West Ashley.
• Open Studio is scheduled for 10 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. June 5 and June 6 at Studio Space at 720 Magnolia Road, Suite 25 in West Ashley. Drop-ins are welcome.
• Work-in-Progress Presentation and Feedback Forum is scheduled for 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. June 7 at The Schoolhouse, large community auditorium.

Dee Norton Child Advocacy Center, an organization that aims to prevent abuse, protect children and heal families, has named Blair Turner and Lance Oliver to its board of directors. These new board members will each serve a three-year term. Turner was a high school teacher for two years and spent several years in specialty pharmaceuticals. She is an honorary member of the Turner Foundation and has served on the First Scots Presbyterian Kindergarten board since 2016. Oliver is a member attorney at Motley Rice LLC.

Lowcountry Land Trust is set to host its 4th annual Farm-to-Table Supper from 6 to 9 p.m. June 30 at the Ambrose family home on Wadmalaw Island. The event aims to highlight and celebrate the joys of the Sea Islands while raising awareness and support of the conservation challenges facing the area. There will be a meal from the Ambrose Farm and live music.

Tickets are $65 per person and free of charge for children 12 and under. All proceeds benefit the Lowcountry Land Trust and support their mission of preserving land throughout the Lowcountry, including the Sea Islands.

Patriots Point Foundation is set to match any grants or donations for Flight Academy scholarships up to $5,000 individually and $25,000 in total. Flight Academy is a program where students learn the roles of pilots, communications, traffic controllers, planning and teamwork.

The sixth annual Need to Breathe Classic held on April 23 at the Daniel Island Golf Club raised more than $200,000 in support of OneWorld Health, a nonprofit organization based in Charleston that aims to bring sustainable quality health care to developing communities in Central America and Africa.
