Metal retail store to open for B2B professionals, hobbyists

The Metal Supermarkets, a convenience store for metal, is scheduled to open this month in North Charleston, the company said in a news release.

The store, which will be located at 4204 Domino Ave., Suite C, in North Charleston, works as a one-stop shopping place for business-to-business professionals and hobbyists seeking metal to work with, the company said.

“For most of my career, I’ve worked in the metal industry, so I’m confident we’ll be able to provide customers with the high-quality customer service Metal Supermarkets is known for,” local owner Greg Gallman said in a statement. “I chose to join the Metal Supermarkets team because there is a clear need in Charleston for a trusted metal supplier.”

Gallman has more than 25 years’ experience in metal working, the company said. Previously he worked as a materials manager, operations manager, vice president and owner of a metals company, among other roles. He said that the Metal Supermarkets location in North Charleston will be a family business with his wife and son helping with day-to-day operations.

The company said Metal Supermarkets provides different types of metal, including hot- and cold-rolled, aluminum, copper, brass and stainless bars, tubes, angles, channel, sheet and plate. In all, the North Charleston location will carry more than 8,000 types, shapes and grades of metal that can be cut to a customer’s specifications, the company said.

Metal Supermarkets targets business-to-business customers, including manufacturers, machinists, maintenance and repair professionals, tool and die shops, hospitals, hotels, universities, schools, along with homeowners, artists and hobbyists.

Metal Supermarkets has locations across the U.S., Canada and the United Kingdom.
