Your Crawlspace is expanding.

No, not the actual space under your house, but the crawlspace encapsulation company in Charleston County.

A $3.6 million investment will include the purchasing and upfitting of a new facility at 1056 Hunley Sullivans Road, according to a statement issued by Charleston County Economic Development.

The company, which manufactures and distributes crawlspace encapsulation, anticipates creating 40 new jobs when the expansion is completed in the fall.

“Your Crawlspace has been experiencing significant growth over the last several years, which necessitates this expansion,” said founder and president Bennie Marshall in a statement. “We are very appreciative of our customers, the YCS team and Charleston County for all their support.”

YCS is a family-owned business, which Secretary of Commerce Harry M. Lightsey III said is the kind of company that makes up the “heart of South Carolina.”

“These new jobs will make a big difference in the Charleston County area, and we’re excited to see what the future has in store for this great company,” he said.

The company’s headquarters are located at 10004 North Highway 17 in McClellanville.

YCS creates vapor barrier systems that provide a damage-free seal throughout treated areas and is the only patented, non-mechanical and properly sealed encapsulation system in the industry, according to the company’s website.

“Creating local jobs and shared prosperity for all Charleston County citizens is the core of our economic development mission,” said Charleston County Council District 2 member Dickie Schweers in the release. “Your Crawlspace’s expansion is providing tremendous opportunity for the citizens living in rural Charleston County.”
