Craft roasting company Charleston Coffee Roasters is expanding its North Charleston operations with a $2.2 million investment.

“It’s a special day to celebrate the homegrown success of Charleston Coffee Roasters,” said Charleston County Council Chairman Teddie Pryor. “The company’s decision to expand in Charleston County is a testament to the increasingly diverse economy we’ve cultivated here.”

Since the company was founded 16 years ago, Charleston has always been home for the coffee roaster’s operations, President Lowell D. Grosse said. The expansion is expected to create 28 jobs for the company.

“Working with the S.C. Department of Commerce and Charleston County Economic Development, this next stage of our strategic growth plan enables us to hire more employees, continue our aggressive expansion, increase our distribution across more states and more retailers, and create new gourmet coffee roasts for our customers to enjoy,” Grosse said.

Charleston Coffee Roasters sources coffee from around the world and has established operations at 7246 Stall Road. The expansion includes adding 21,600 square feet of production space for new roasters, grinders and packing equipment.

“South Carolina’s business-friendly environment and talented workforce create the perfect blend for companies like Charleston Coffee Roasters,” Secretary of Commerce Bobby Hitt said.

The expansion is expected to be completed by summer of 2022.
