Dennis Eagle Inc., a manufacturer of refuse collection vehicles, plans to establish operations in Dorchester County and create 21 jobs.

Dennis Eagle is a subsidiary of United Kingdom-based manufacturer Dennis Eagle Ltd. and part of the multinational Terberg RosRoca Group. The company plans to lease 16,000 square feet in the Eastport Commerce Center, located at 104 Pinnacle Way in Summerville, to assemble its Elite Chassis for compressed natural gas and diesel trucks.

Dennis Eagle President Ian Handley said in a news release from the S.C. Department of Commerce that the company is “thrilled to join the international business community in Dorchester County.”

“We feel confident that our new location will allow us to continue as a world leader in our industry and expand our capabilities in North America, while maintaining the quality standards and innovation that Dennis Eagle is known for,” Handley said.

The new facility is projected to be operational next year, and hiring is expected to begin in the coming months.

“The future of this partnership looks bright with our experienced manufacturing workforce and their global reputation for high-quality refuse collection vehicles,” said Dorchester County Council Chairman George Bailey. “We look forward to their great success in this community and are excited to work with them every step of the way.”
