A Goose Creek aluminum manufacturer is spending nearly $33 million to upgrade its existing foil production equipment at the company's facilities in Russellville, Ark., Williamsport, Pa., and St. Louis.

JW Aluminum, which has a production facility and its corporate headquarters at Mt. Holly Commerce Park on U.S. Highway 52, said the money will be used to improve its existing rolling mills; equipment to increase strength of its products; and slitters at those locations. The company said the upgrades will allow better “quality, reliability and throughput for the fin stock, honeycomb foil and flexible packaging markets.”

Chief Commercial Officer Ryan Roush said JW Aluminum is making the investment to ensure the company maintains its quality for sheet and foil customers today and in the future.

“These investments reinforce our commitment to continuous improvement and customers in our core markets,” Roush said in a news release.

In June, JW Aluminum announced plans to build a new, 220,000-square-foot building at the Goose Creek site and install state-of-the-art green technology. That project is expected to bring $255 million in capital investment and yield 50 new jobs at the plant.
