Summer hiring expected to be robust for short-term help

Babysitter, camp counselor and teacher are the top, short-term jobs this summer, but if you're hiring anyone for the immediate short-term, you might want to hurry. It's a seller's market.

Online recruiting tool Indeed reports that job postings are at a three-year high, which is indicative of the robust job market across the U.S. and in South Carolina. The Palmetto State had a 4.2% jobless rate for April, the latest data from the S.C. Department of Employment and Workforce show. And where was the lowest of the low unemployment rate? Yep, right here in the Charleston-North Charleston Metropolitan Statistical Area.

For April, the Charleston region has a jobless rate of 2.3%, which Charleston County posting the lowest unemployment at 2.2% in the entire state. Berkeley County and Dorchester County aren't far behind with 2.5% and 2.4%, respectively. If you need a worker, you're going to be competing with everyone else in the region.
