Mount Pleasant’s first gaming café opened its doors at 1964 Riviera Drive, Suite J, on June 22.

Owners Marshall Tyers and Sarah Reuter established the café out of their love of good drinks and food, combined with playing board games.

The Owlbear Cafe has more than 200 boardgames for patrons to play while they gather and eat. The menu offers classic café fare, with local products and ingredients when possible. Coffee selections include in-house brewed options and varieties by local roasters. Owlbear Café also offers a curated selection of local beer and wine.

“Whether you are looking for your new favorite lunch spot, a place to meet clients, or a hangout to sip coffee while playing a board game with friends, Owlbear is here for you,” the owners said at the grand opening.

Tyers and Reuter were joined at the ribbon-cutting ceremony by Mount Pleasant Council Member Kathy Landing, Mount Pleasant Chamber of Commerce Members Brian Sherman, Rebecca Imholz and Joe Hinkse.
