Daniel Island is getting a brewery.
Atlanta-based New Realm Brewing is expanding into Berkeley County with an 11,000-square foot facility that includes an on-site brewery, restaurant, music venue and private event space, the company said in a news release.
The opening will create approximately 100 jobs.
The brewery will be located at 880 Island Park Drive, the space currently occupied by Dockery’s. The establishment will be rebranded as New Realm in May and will feature the company’s handcrafted lineup of beers, with some limited releases that will only be available on Daniel Island.
The craft brewery and distillery began operations in 2016 and in 2018 New Realm Brewing opened its Atlanta brewery and restaurant. Co-founder and CEO Carey Falcone said he’s been asked by South Carolinians when New Realm beers would be available in the state.
“We are thrilled to announce that the time has come. A South Carolina location has always been in our plans and the Charleston area is the perfect location to add a brewery and restaurant,” Falcone said in a statement. “We will continue to enhance the original Dockery’s vision of a destination that brings the community together through great food, great beer, and great music.”
Leading the brewery will be brew master Mitch Steele, who the statement said has helped drive innovation in the industry and IPA market for several decades.
The Daniel Island facility will be new Realm’s fourth location, along with its flagship brewery and restaurant in Georgia.
