On the Menu provides the latest news from the Charleston area’s culinary community, including new restaurants, new menu items and upcoming events, as well as details about local chefs. ATTENTION: Submissions should now be made using our online form.

Edmund’s Oast will be open on Mondays starting next week. The restaurant will be open from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.

And beginning Oct. 24, Edmund’s Oast Exchange will begin holding Wine Bar Wednesdays from 5 to 9 p.m. Charcuterie and cheese plates will be available from Edmund’s Oast restaurant for eating in the exchange shop.


Charleston Beer Garden has been renamed the Charleston Beer Fest, and it will move to Riverfront Park in North Charleston next year.

The Charleston Beer Fest will be held from noon to 7 p.m. May 18. Tickets will go on sale Feb. 1.

The festival, which includes interactive beer games, live music, food trucks, local craft vendors and a Homebrewers’ Village, has grown and needed space to expand. Additionally, The Grove at Patriots Point is part of an area slated for development.

Proceeds from the festival benefit Palmetto Community Care, which provides HIV care and prevention education awareness across the tri-county area.

A Pint of Hope event will be held from 5-8 p.m. today at Frothy Beard Brewing Co. One dollar from each pint sold will be donated to Palmetto Community Care, and attendees will get chances to win free tickets to the 2019 Charleston Beer Fest and learn more about the festival.


The Charleston Port and Seafarers’ Society’s annual culinary event, Taste of the World, is slated for 6 p.m. Nov. 1 at Omar Shrine Event Center in Mount Pleasant.

About 35 local restaurants will offer samples of one of their specialties, and the event will include silent and live auction items. Admission is $62 per person.
