On the Menu provides the latest news from the Charleston area’s culinary community, including new restaurants, new menu items and upcoming events, as well as details about local chefs. ATTENTION: Submissions should now be made using our online form.

Local food blogger Candice Herriott is set to host a launch party for her book, Provisions to Plate: A Charleston Seasonal Collective, from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Sunday at Bowens Island Restaurant.

Over the past year, Herriott has interviewed local chefs, farmers, fishers and mixologists who will be included in the book. The party will include food from chefs who participated in the book.

Tickets are $220 and include a signed copy of the book.


Charleston Green Drinks, an organization that aims help community members connect and learn about environmental resources and opportunities, is hosting its June gathering from 5:30 to 7 p.m. today at Palmetto Brewing Co.

Attendees will learn more about the Surfrider Foundation Charleston Chapter’s Strawless Summer initiative, a movement that aims to reduce the use of plastic straws to prevent ocean pollution.
