DeconinckGeoffroy Deconinck has been hired as the new executive chef of The Dewberry Charleston. Deconick has more than 15 years’ experience in French cuisine, and he will oversee the events, banquets, in-room dining service and the restaurant Henrietta’s.

Deconinck, born and raised in Brussels, graduated with honors from the Culinary Arts and Hotel Management school at the campus of Ceria cooking school in Brussels. He learned Auguste Escoffier’s cooking techniques and recipes and worked at L’Epicerie in Brussels under chef David Martin, before returning to the United States. 

The sixth annual Lowcountry Hoedown is set for 7 to 11 p.m. Nov. 4 at the Visitor Center Bus Shed. The event will include food, cocktails, beer, a cowboy hat toss, a photo booth and bull rides.

Tickets are available starting today for $40. The proceeds will benefit The Harbor Entrepreneur Center, a nonprofit aimed at increasing entrepreneurship and scalable companies in the Charleston area.
