(Photo/Kim McManus)The Charleston Regional Business Journal has named honorees for the 2021 Health Care Heroes.

Each year, the Business Journal and its partners honor professionals across the region who work in health care and related fields. These individuals and their organizations frequently go beyond the call of duty for their communities and professions and in service to others.

The heroes will be honored in a special, in-person event from 6-8:30 p.m., Dec. 2 at the Francis Marion Hotel in downtown Charleston. Click for more information about the event or to register for tickets.

Several weeks ago, community leaders, including Business Journal readers, were invited to submit nominations for the 2021 Health Care Heroes awards. A panel of judges then independently reviewed the nominations for Health Care Heroes and scored honorees in the categories of Community Outreach, COVID-19 Response, First Responder, Health Care Professional, Nurse, Physician, Service/Therapy Animal, Trident Construction Health Care Engineer and Volunteer. After the scores were collected from each judge, the honorees in each category were confirmed and contacted.

Each of the 2021 Health Care Heroes also will be profiled in an upcoming edition of the Charleston Regional Business Journal, in print and online.
