Tecklenburg secures 2nd term

Charleston Mayor John Tecklenburg won a second term as chief executive of the Holy City on Tuesday, beating District 8 Councilman Mike Seekings by nearly 5,000 votes, according to unofficial results.

Charleston City Council District 3 Councilman James Lewis Jr. lost his seat in the runoff by 25 votes to challenger Jason Sakran.

Sakran will be the fourth new face on City Council come January. He will be joined by Marie Delcioppo representing District 1, Karl Brady representing District 5 and Ross Appel representing District 11.

In Moncks Corner, DeWayne Kitts won the runoff to fill the empty Town Council seat, beating Johna Bilton 215-110 votes (.pdf).
