src=Election Day begins at 7 a.m. Tuesday across South Carolina and the United States.

Polls will stay open until 7 p.m. or until everyone who is in line at 7 p.m. has had an opportunity to vote, according to the S.C. Election Commission. If you are voting in person, you must have a government-issued photo identification, which can include an S.C. driver’s license, S.C. Department of Motor Vehicles identification card, U.S. passport or federal military ID, among other forms.

Check with your local Election Commission office or polling place if you do not have a photo identification or have other questions about Election Day voting.

The commission also offers an online tool to find your polling place, check your registration status and download a sample ballot for your specific area.

The Charleston Area Regional Transportation Authority has said its service will be free on Tuesday, to help voters without transportation get to the polls.
