New website to give prospective Citadel students a virtual campus experience

A new website and virtual information sessions will replace on-campus visits this spring for prospective Citadel students and families while the school is closed because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Citadel360 aims to give prospective cadets and students an interactive, virtual experience. The website puts viewers at the center of a panoramic image that they control and move around with the mouse.

Virtual visits include a cadet’s room, the checkerboard Padgett-Thomas Barracks quad, the Bastin Finance Leadership Lab, the Earl Tennis Center, the Summerall Chapel and spots like the giant Citadel ring statue and the Daniel Library.

“The Citadel360 provides an exciting new virtual experience for anyone wanting to see the beauty of our campus, and more importantly the spaces they would be using as a cadet or student,” said Kelly Brennan, associate provost of enrollment management for The Citadel. “We wish we could host everyone interested in attending in person, but this is a helpful alternative when traveling to campus is not possible.”

New elements are being added to the website.

Other options will also be available to replace on-campus tours that would have taken place this spring.

“In place of physical tours, we are encouraging prospective cadets and students to schedule an individual video conference with one of our admissions specialists standing by to help,” Brennan said.

Virtual information sessions for the S.C. Corps of Cadets and Citadel Graduate College can be booked online.

Cadet recruits and students who have already applied and been admitted to the college will be communicated with directly by the admissions team and will be provided information about next steps as they become available, Brennan said.
