Trident Tech offering continuing education scholarships

Trident Technical College’s Division of Continuing Education and Economic Development is offering scholarship funds to help students pay for courses in approved career training programs.

This is the fourth time the S.C. General Assembly has renewed the Workforce Pathways Scholarships through the S.C. Technical College System. A total of $500,000 is available to Trident Tech’s continuing education students, separate from the Workforce Pathways Scholarships available for academic courses at Trident Tech this year.

Thirty-six courses, in health care, manufacturing, information technology and professional development, are eligible for scholarship funding.

Scholarships are offered on a first-come, first-served basis, and eligibility is not based on financial need or academic performance. Scholarship recipients can take an entire program or classes within a program but cannot move among multiple programs.

“Thanks to this important scholarship program being renewed again, we can offer this tremendous opportunity for students to train for a new career,” says Bob Walker, vice president for Continuing Education and Economic Development. “Hundreds of students took advantage of the last three installments of the Workforce Pathways Scholarship and are now equipped to begin a new career or advance in their current one.”

Students can apply for scholarships Sept. 13-27 by attending an orientation session to learn about the scholarship program and obtain an application form. Orientations are scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Tuesdays and 10 a.m. Thursdays during the application window in Building 920 at the Thornley Campus in North Charleston
