Daye North America, an outdoor power equipment company, is spending $1.8 million to establish operations in Ladson. The investment is expected to create 16 jobs.

Located at the Ladson Industrial Park off U.S. Highway 78 near Ladson Road, the company’s new facility is estimated to be finished by Nov. 1, according to a news release. It will become the company’s national distribution center, with hundreds of thousands of products expected to pass through each year, the release said.

Gov. Henry McMaster applauded the company’s decision to create a Charleston County warehouse facility and create job opportunities for area residents.

In the release, Daye North America President Matt Ragland said, “The facility’s proximity to the Port of Charleston, along with Charleston County’s vibrant workforce, will be key components to our success.”

Daye North America, a subsidiary of Ningbo Daye Garden Machinery Co., manufactures garden power tools, such as gas- and battery-powered lawn mowers, hedge trimmers, chain saws, blowers and string trimmers.

“The announcement by Daye North America is another reason why we work each day to make Charleston County business-friendly,” Charleston County Council Chairman Elliott Summey said in he release. “We continue to attract private investment, strengthen the regional economy and create new opportunities for business and residents.”
