King buys general contracting firm Palmetto Craftsmen

(Photo/Provided)General contracting firm Palmetto Craftsmen has been sold to Charleston contractor Zach King, according to a news release. 

Former owner John B. “Demi” Howard will continue as a consultant with the company, which specializes in renovation and restoration of historic buildings, as well as commercial construction repairs and maintenance and new construction. 

“After spending time with Demi and getting to know the background of the company, I knew that Palmetto Craftsmen was a natural fit for my family and me,” King said in a statement. “Their reputation is outstanding, and Demi has built a solid foundation. As we continue to grow Palmetto Craftsmen and expand our work throughout the Lowcountry, I look forward to working with Demi as he continues to offer his insight as a consultant to Palmetto Craftsmen.” 

King also is the owner of Sand Creek Construction and has worked in construction in the Lowcountry since 2004. 

King joined Sand Creek in 2008 and purchased the business in 2011. Since then the company seen consistent growth, booking $20 million dollars in commercial and residential renovations work.
