The Citadel is developing a long-range plan to assess and address the physical infrastructure of the campus.

The master plan will serve as a roadmap for the next 15 years and is expected to establish a vision for the physical campus and guide near-term decisions about facilities investments.

According to a news release, the project will assess campus buildings, landscapes and infrastructure to determine what currently works for the college and what could be improved or expanded.

The Citadel Campus Master Plan will determine physical and financial priorities using input from campus constituents and development experts, the release said.

“The Citadel Campus Master Plan presents an exciting opportunity for the college to create a vision for the physical campus that reflects our shared values and supports all elements of cadet and student development,” said retired Gen. Glenn M. Walters, The Citadel’s president. “The plan will weight all aspects of the physical campus holistically, as it is now and as it needs to evolve to meet future demands.”

The Citadel’s faculty and staff and alumni are asked to provide input for the project online.

The master plan development process began with open forums (.pdf) on campus in the fall and is expected to conclude by the end of 2020. The master plan team is led by Jeff Lamberson, vice president of facilities and engineering, with the support of architectural development consultant Ayers Saint Gross.
